Cahoon Farms Inc. Fruit Farm Worker in Wolcott, New York

2 Fulltime Seasonal H-2A Jobs available 04/01/2025- 11/01/2025.

Throughout the contract, workers may manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery. Workers may attach farm implements to tractors, such as sprayers, mowers, disc harrows, tillers, cultivators, platforms, harvest assist equipment, etc. using bolts and hand tools. Before any worker is required to operate equipment, they will be instructed in the proper/safe operation.

Workers will be required to operate assigned equipment according to instructions and in a manner which protects the operator, other workers, trees/fruit, and equipment. Workers may perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting repair to ensure proper functioning of machinery. At least 6 months experience driving tractors with attached machinery is required.Duties will also include applying crop protection materials in orchards, while driving a tractor with attached sprayer. Workers must adhere to any safety regulations- including wearing required protective gear, handling materials appropriately, following label instructions, electing appropriate materials, accurately measuring/mixing materials. Workers must also be able to maintain a detailed record of work performed using provided forms/checklists and technology.

Cahoon Farms, Inc. assures workers hired under this order will be provided with any required training. Workers must pass a respirator fit test and attend and pass a Restricted Use of Pesticide class. Tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided. Other duties during the contract period may include: pruning trees, thinning fruit, planting trees while driving a tractor, orchard maintenance, mowing, tilling soil.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to heat/humidity, rain, dew, dust, wind, frost/snow, temperatures ranging below 30 degrees F and above 90 degrees F, prolonged periods of sitting required, ability to lift up to 80 lbs. Daily or weekly schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Work may take place outside of a traditional work day- meaning early morning hours or late evening hours. Employer will notify workers of any changes to start time.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in performing tasks described in this order.
  • Must be able to lift 80 lbs.
  • Repetitive movements, frequent stooping/bending.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Driver requirements.
