Windham Mountain Resort SUPERVISORY SECURITY OFFICER in Windham, New York

Overview of Position: The Windham Mountain Office of Safety and Security is responsible for the safety and security of the employees, visitors, and guests at Windham Mountain and its affiliated/contracted Homeowner Associations and related business facilities. Security Officers are responsible for monitoring, protecting, and securing the physical facilities and other tangible assets of the resort. They conduct security patrols of the grounds and properties, including buildings. Security Officers will intervene in situations with guests and staff as necessary and assist in all money movement throughout the resort facilities, and will assist all resort divisions, managers, employees, visitors, and guests in any other assignments and duties when available to do so.

Supervisory Security Officers of the Windham Mountain Office of Safety and Security will act at the discretion of the Chief Officer of Safety and Security. Such Security Officers may be designated by general defined job tasks, as a Supervisory Security Officer, Assistant Supervisory Security Officer, or as a Temporary Officer in Charge, to assist the Chief Officer of Safety and Security with the management and administration of the Office of Safety and Security, and with oversight and daily management of other Security Officers within the Office of Safety and Security. Supervisory Security Officers shall be required to fulfill all the normal duties and responsibilities of a Security Officer for Windham Mountain. Supervisory or Assistant Supervisory Security Officers shall report directly to the Chief Officer of Safety and Security.

Job Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have or be able to obtain a NY Security Guard License upon hire and shall maintain this license during their period of employment. Applicants with prior supervisory experience in security or law enforcement are preferred.

  • If applicants who are not already licensed by NY State as Security Guard are offered and hired into a position with the Windham Mountain Office of Safety and Security, they can/will receive their required certification training through the Ski Windham Security Guard Training School.

  • Applicants must hold a valid Driver License issued by a State Department of Motor Vehicles and shall have and maintain a driving record that is deemed acceptable by the vehicle insurer for Windham Mountain.

  • Applicants must be able to lift and maneuver over 60 pounds and must have sufficient fitness and mobility to actively patrol on foot, including areas of low traction and uneven ground, as well various stairs and ladders.

  • Applicants must be alert, reliable, truthful, honest, polite, steadfast, attentive and be able to maintain confidential information.

  • Applicants must be comfortable interacting with all manner of staff, residents, owners, and guests in a friendly and helpful manner.

  • Applicants must be able to handle stressful, noisy, and crowded situations, and be able to conduct themselves efficiently and professionally in dynamic and ever-changing environments.

  • Applicants must have strong listening, problem solving, and decision making skills

  • Applicants must have experience in and a strong understanding of the application of supervision and management of subordinate staff in daily tasks, assignments, and during emergency situations.

  • Applicants must maintain a clean and professional appearance as outlined in department policy, wearing issued uniforms as instructed and approved.

  • Uniforms will be provided with the exception of boots, belts, and gloves.

  • Applicants must be able to fulfill a variety of shifts and work periods. They may be required to work shifts including days, evenings, and overnight shifts. Applicants may also be required to work weekdays, weekends, Holiday periods, and special events.

    Job Duties: The list below best represents many tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment here at Windham Mountain. As we cannot predict all the challenges that we may face in providing an Above & Beyond guest experience, additional responsibilities may be added.

  • Provide assistance as directed by the Chief Security Officer in the general and daily management and administration of the Office of Safety and Security including but not limited to: supervision, policies, functional management, compliance, training, budgetary, community relations, liaison with emergency services, various levels of creating, reviewing, and publishing activity reports and statistics.

  • Act as designated Officer in Charge in the absence of the Chief Security Officer.

  • Resort wide and residential safety and security services for community members including guests, staff, and residents, as well as for Windham Mountain’s physical properties, while instilling a sense of safety and security on a constant 24/7/365 basis.

  • Vehicular and personal Security Patrol presence to prevent, deter, and respond to safety and criminal incidents and efficiently secure the facilities and properties of Windham Mountain, as well as to contracted residential neighborhoods.

  • First responder services and the provision of assistance in coordinating the response to criminal, fire, medical and safety hazard incidents while working with and alongside professional emergency responders to resolve incidents.

  • Dedicated safety and security services for special events including concerts, weddings, competitions, etc.

  • Investigate and create reports on all manner of security and resort activities, assists, and complaints or activities including criminal and non-criminal concerns.

  • Security for the movement of money throughout Windham Mountain as well as to designated banking institutions.

  • Administration of various Fire and Burglar alarm systems, physical security systems, access control systems, video surveillance systems, and other Security related activities.

  • Spot check different areas of Windham Mountain property several times during the work shift, but not necessarily on a pre-determined time schedule.
