Windham Mountain Resort KIDS CAMP DIRECTOR in Windham, New York

Overview of Position: The Kids Camp Director is responsible for designing, organizing, and overseeing all Kid’s Camp programs. This involves training and supervision of staff in their interaction with guests and children, and in ensuring that safety and service levels are consistently being met. It is important that campers and parents are satisfied with a safe, fun, and enriching experience.

Job Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in camp leadership, recreation management, or youth program development.

  • Must be enthusiastic and have a demonstrated ability to work well with children.

  • Must be comfortable interacting with both staff and guests in a friendly and helpful manner.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for an entire work shift.

  • Comfortable hiking and engaging in various outdoor activities for long periods.

  • Ability to train and manage seasonal camp staff.

  • Intermediate computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.

  • Reliable, results-driven, and willing to learn.

  • Experience in risk management and safety protocols for outdoor and recreational activities preferred.

  • CPR certification required, training will be provided if necessary.

  • Design and implement a diverse and engaging camp program.

  • Perform supervisory functions such as hiring, training, reviewing, and terminating staff as needed.

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where campers can learn, grow, and have fun. This includes a high degree of participation in camp activities.

  • Ensure all activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices in outdoor recreation and youth programming.

  • Oversee camper meal times.

  • Prepare annual budgets for the Kid’s Camp.

  • Manage staff scheduling, payroll, and any personnel issues that may arise.

  • Communicate with parents and resort guests regarding camp programs, policies, and camper experiences.

  • Coordinate with other resort departments as needed.

  • Must maintain a clean and professional appearance.

    Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing a premier product and experience for our guests. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.

    This is a full-time position for Windham Mountain Club’s summer season, April through October, with the potential to grow to include a winter season role.
