NJ Employer Farmworker in Wallkill, New York

Anticipated period of employment: 08/10/2024 to 11/10/2024

All applicants must have 3 months experience hand harvesting a perishable crop. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers.

Manually prune, plant, cultivate, & harvest apples. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, Hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops. Identify plants, pests & weeds to determine the selection & application of pesticides & fertilizers. Apply non restricted pesticides, Herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Harvest fruit by hand. Pick apples for fresh marketing and/or processing. After 3 days of training employer will expect worker to pick at least 100 bu boxes per day of fresh market fruit. All fruit to be handled with care to avoid bruising. Only workers meeting all qualifications on the job order should be referred by the Job Service Office. Interested candidates must contact their local employment office to receive a copy of the job order (ETA 790/790A) and applicable attachments. Once the applicant has a copy of the job contract they may call and/or email the employer to schedule an interview Monday- Friday from 9am to 5pm and referred to JO NY1502046 as the JO is in connection with an NJ number.
