Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Dietary Aide in Syracuse, New York
A Food service workers assist with all aspects of the food service operation, including but not limited to, food preparation, serving of meals, cleaning, maintenance of food service area and equipment as well as record keeping where required.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) - Specialized training in food preparation preferred. Able to perform all duties and responsibilities required of this position. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with co-workers, management, residents, and hospital staff.
Essential Functions: Complete assignments during the selection, preparation and serving of food in an efficient and pleasant manner. Organize and adjust tables for dining areas, paying special attention to cleanliness and ease of use Assist other team members with preparing and cooking meals for the facility as needed Deliver meals and food trays to patients at predetermined times Remove plates, utensils and serve ware from tables when patients have completed their meal. Discard trash and remove waste from the dining hall after scheduled mealtimes Ensure plates, utensils and serve ware are properly washed, dried, and put away at the end of each meal service and shift. Maintain clean and orderly food prep stations or food station/buffets during special events Monitor pantry stock and inform management of items running low and in need or re-ordering Ensure that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned according to the regulations at the close of each shift
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to be on his/her feet for extended periods of time. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp utensils or carry pots and pans. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as crates, bags or cartons of canned or fresh produce. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, or bulk food carts.
