Description

The After School Activity Leader is responsible for working with Site Directors to create an inviting environment for children during after school hours. You will be expected to engage with children, assist and/or lead various activities, actively supervise children, and ultimately present yourself as a positive role model.

( Available Hours:  Monday - Friday 1:45-6 pm)

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Forming a positive working relationship with the school and JCC personnel.

  • Ensuring excellent & diverse programming.

  • Forming relationships with children and parents.

  • Responsible for health and safety of children.

  • Keeping the site clean and organized.

  • Writing memos and informing parents of activities.

  • Maintaining accurate daily attendance records.

  • Communicating issues with the supervisor.

  • Responsible for following rules of site including lock up procedures.

  • Attending monthly staff trainings.

  • Implementation of behavior management strategies.

    Additional Responsibilities: Throughout the school year, when Niskayuna schools are closed, the JCC offers Vacation Day Programming at the JCC. You will be asked to work during those days. When schools are closed, have half days, or snow days you will also be asked to work. It is mandatory to attend staff trainings and site director meetings.

Qualifications

 

  • 1 year of experience working with children.

  • Qualified by New York Licensing.

  • A positive, upbeat spirit “can do” attitude and a great sense of fun!
