Job Title: Full-Time Accompanist – Departments of Dance and Music
Job Summary:
The Departments of Dance and Music invite applications for a full-time accompanist (9 months per year) to support our dynamic programs. This is a three-year, renewable position shared by two distinct departments; we require a versatile and skilled collaborative pianist who can accompany dance classes, music ensembles, and individual students while fostering a collaborative and educational environment in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.
Start Date: September 1, 2025

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with individual vocal and instrumental students in lessons, rehearsals, and performances.
Accompany dance classes across various disciplines, including ballet and modern dance.
Accompany choral ensembles and interpret choral scores in weekly rehearsals and concerts
Collaborate with faculty and students in both departments to enhance musical and dance performances.
Required Qualifications:
Experience collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists in lessons and performances.
Proficiency in accompanying dance classes across multiple styles.
Experience accompanying choral ensembles under the direction of a conductor.
Flexibility in work schedule, including evening and weekend hours
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent sight-reading skills.
Strong improvisation skills.
Flexibility and versatility in repertoire across different musical genres and time periods.
Experience working with students of all levels in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.
Experience and/or interest in integrating technology into one’s musical practice.

Salary: $58,000 plus comprehensive benefits.
All bargaining unit members shall be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Skidmore College and Services Employees International Union, Local 200United.
