Housekeeping Aide
Hourly Rate: $15.50/hr
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning resident rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas and assisting in maintaining a clean and attractive environment for the residents. The Laundry Aide ensures linens, and residents’ clothing is correctly collected, sorted, laundered, distributed, and stored according to facility policy. *Candidates hired for Housekeeping or Laundry are cross-trained for both positions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Housekeeping:
Ensure facility linens and resident’s clothing items are correctly collected, sorted, laundered, distributed, and stored according to facility policy.
Keeps accurate records of linen inventory.
Maintains a high level of cleanliness & safety throughout designated areas.
Ensure that all equipment is clean and in working condition at all times.
Keep stock of adequate supply of laundry supplies.
Maintain cleanliness of facility materials.
Performing basic housekeeping support procedures for residents as required by assisting in maintaining a clean and attractive environment for both residents and families.
Clean resident rooms, offices, and common areas using cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, as well as both interior and exterior facility areas.
Clean and sanitize floors, equipment, and furniture according to infection control policies.
Operate various types of cleaning equipment.
Laundry:
Handles all laundry by sanitary guidelines
Assures that an adequate supply of clean linens is maintained and distributed to all departments to meet daily needs
Sorts all soiled laundry into appropriate categories. Uses proper formula for processing soiled linen to adequately clean/dry and protect linen
Applies basic math to fill carts and record poundage
Washes, dries, folds, and hangs all laundry neatly and adequately and weighs linens
Identifies personal laundry with resident’s name and remarks personal clothing items, if needed
Returns clean resident laundry to fitting rooms, closets, dressers, and supply areas. Remove all empty hangers from the cabinets
Keeps washing machine supplied with the chemical product at all times
Keeps work area clean and net at all times and performs cleaning assignments as scheduled or directed
Works with all other facility employees to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for residents and staff. Exhibit an attitude of helpfulness, team spirit, and support to all team members
Disposes of waste properly
Completes work promptly
Dress in an appropriate uniform, be at the appointed workstation when the shift starts, and work consistently until the shift ends
Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions
Constantly, maintains high-performance standards regarding personal behavior and interactions with staff, community, and residents under various conditions and circumstances. Reports perceived problems to supervisor. Contributes ideas to rectify issues identified and follows corrective actions as directed by the supervisor.
Acts as a source of direction to visitors, staff, and external populations, i.e., delivery staff, vendors, etc.
Performs any other duties necessary as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
Minimum 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent – preferred
High degree of personal hygiene – required
Position-related experience – preferred
Ability to read and understand work assignments, as well as report verbally and provide written documentation as necessary
Respect for residents’ privacy and rights; display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly
Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness
Qualities of responsibility, diplomacy and ability to work well with fellow staff members
