JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for: Repairing and maintaining CHI properties agency wide, buildings, and their internal systems, ensuring they are safe and functioning properly. Assists the facilities director and staff as needed.

JOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position.
  • Ensures all general building and property repairs are completed in a correct, timely and efficient manner, including but not limited to: repairing leaking faucets and toilets, performing cosmetic repairs within/outside of apartments and buildings, performing painting, repairing or replacing locks, and performing minor appliance repairs

  • Interacts with DSS, town officials and inspectors, tenants and CHI customers

  • Performs general property maintenance including snow removal, salt disbursement, and general yard work

  • Cleans vacant apartments and appliances for re-rental purposes

  • Performs minor renovation projects and installs appliances

  • Reviews with Maintenance Supervisor the status of maintenance/repair projects for each property and makes requests for any additional materials needed at that time

  • Performs routine building cleaning as needed including in the common areas

  • Immediately informs Maintenance Supervisor and Senior Director of Real Estate of any safety or health hazard(s) found at the premises

    SALARY: $23.00 an hour - $47,840 annually

Qualifications

  • Education:High School Diploma or equivalency degree

  • Experience:Five years’ experience working in general contracting

  • Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver’s license, General Contractor’s license preferred

  • Communication: Good verbal communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

  • Computer Skills: Basic competency

  • Math Skills: Ability to perform simple equations

  • Physical Performance: Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs), tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to report building and tenant needs

  • Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless, and disabled populations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details

  • Other requirements:Should preferably own a set of “handy persons’ tools”
