Position Summary
Reporting to the Director for the Center for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research, Professor Tonda Hughes, the Variable Hours Officer will assist with providing research support to several of Professor Hughes' studies, including supporting dissemination of findings from a 24-year longitudinal study of sexual minority women's mental health and substance abuse-and other related studies.
Responsibilities
- The primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Maintain the database of participants, including tracking the retention of participants, overseeing mailings and keeping track of participants who have moved;
- Coordinate with preparing, organizing and communicating research results for presentations, manuscripts and annual reports to NIH;
- Support with preparing study reports and journal articles for publication; and
- Performing other related projects and responsibilities as needed and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful incumbent will possess computer fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. S/He will have strong attention to detail, the ability to organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience with vulnerable populations and certified training in HIPAA Compliance and Human Subjects protection is required. The successful incumbent should have an established record of working with confidential data and maintaining confidentiality, privacy and integrity in professional interactions.
Prior research experience strongly preferred. A Master's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Women's Studies, or Sociology is highly desirable for this role.
Experience with data analysis software such as SPSS and basic Web Design skills would be preferred for this role.
Experience working on research projects with sexual minority women participants is also a plus.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, possess excellent time management skills.
Must be reliable and punctual.
