Description

SMC is seeking a Porter to maintain the upkeep of grounds, amenities, building exteriors and leasing office, parking lots and other community buildings of multi-family residential apartments, under the Supervision of the Superintendent.

Essential Role and Responsibilities

  • Sweeping interior public corridors, stairways, lobbies, as well as laundry rooms and other designated area in a clean and satisfactory manner.

  • Mopping of corridors, stairways, lobbies, as well as laundry and other designated areas in a clean and satisfactory manner.

  • Maintain and clean doors, janitorial closets, locker rooms, offices, toilets and other non-residential spaces in a clean and satisfactory manner.

  • Remove refuse, debris and garbage in proper containers from the premises in accordance with sanitation pick up schedule for property.

  • Administrer the recycling program as per the city guidelines.

  • Police and maintain grounds, playgrounds etc, picking up paper, leaves, etc.

  • Replace burned out light bulbs in all public areas.

  • Wash windows in all public and non-residential areas.

  • Paint or remove graffiti on outside of buildings, in public areas and corridors.

  • Strip, wax and buff corridors and lobbies.

  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as directed by supervisors.

  • Adhere to the personnel rules of Shinda Management and general code of conduct.

  • Maintain person and uniform in a clean and neat manner while on duty.

  • Assist maintenance staff with repairs where possible, in keeping with Shinda Management's policy to upgrade the skills of our porter staff for future promotion via on-the-job enhancement of duties.

  • Clean boiler rooms and basement areas.

  • Report broken mailboxes.

  • Report malfunctioning building entrance doors.

  • Alternate days off for proper weekend coverage.

  • Report any malfunction of equipment such as broken leaks, faulty equipment, broken glass, etc. to your supervisor.

  • Direct resident concerns to maintenance office.

  • Snow removal during winter months.

  • Clean and prepare vacant apartments.

  • Perform all additional duties as posted or verbally assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED Certificate and/or equivalent certificates related to specific trade fields.

  • Applicant must have good interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder.

  • Ability to lift, pull, push and/or move a maximum of 30 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch or sit for long periods of time.

  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.

  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects.

COVID Vaccination Policy
