Hilton Overnight Event Operations (Banquets) / Heart of House (Stewarding) Manager - New York Hilton Midtown in New York, New York

New York Hilton Midtown, one of the largest hotels in New York City, located opposite the Museum of Modern Art is seeking an Overnight Event Operations (Banquets) / Heart of House (Stewarding) Manager to join their team! This amazing property holds a total event space of 127,326 sq. ft., the largest room being 40,019 sq ft. We have 49 meeting rooms and 1878 guest rooms. We are looking for an overnight leader to enhance the already fantastic in- house team, provide support and keep the momentum going!

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role, preferably in Food & Beverage, a drive for relationship building, excellent communication skills and is flexible with scheduling.

As an Overnight Event Operations (Banquets) / Heart of House (Stewarding) Manager, you would be responsible for overseeing the stewarding and facilities operation in the banquet department to ensure high standards of food and beverage quality, service, and insure outstanding customer service.

Directs the set up and break down of all meeting/banquet rooms and Exhibit Hall functions. Directs maintenance of meetings, facilities and banquet equipment, public space and back of house areas. Works with internal and external customers. Interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules, and evaluates staff. Manages Convention Services and Facilities in the overall operation to ensure efficient and professional assistance with the meeting & catering groups resulting in client satisfaction and hotel profitability.

What will I be doing?

  • Formulates and administers department operations to include work schedules, daily assignments, and strategic plans to maintain Hilton Meeting & Convention Service standards and procedures. Inputs and retrieves information from computer system for file maintenance, correspondence, payroll and scheduling.
  • Supports sales and marketing efforts by providing technical assistance and advice as well as recommending specific hotel improvements of services for clients, resulting in greater client satisfaction and ahead of market trends. Regularly review and evaluate the degree of acceptance of both the internal and external customer regarding the operation. Recommend new operating, marketing and service policies whenever there is declining business or unsatisfactory service to our customers.
  • Attend and prepare for all menu, pre-cons, tie downs, individual team member, pre shifts, forecast, statement, budget, leadership and departmental meetings.
  • Manage and direct utility stewards and dishwashers to transport and clean cooking utensils and service ware in order to provide cooks, buspersons and food servers with appropriate equipment.
  • Cleans physical surroundings.
  • Supervises and directs staff, including temporary personnel.
  • Ensures proper set up for all banquet functions on his/her shift and that all food and equipment on menus are delivered on time to all functions.
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards.
  • Helps ensure high standards of food and beverage quality, service and marketing to maximize profits and insure outstanding customer service.
  • Interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules, and evaluates staff.
