Where:

HFH Summer Camps are located an hour north of New York City, on the grounds of the 52,000-acre Harriman State Park. A lush preserve of woodland and lakes straddling New York’s Rockland and Orange counties, the park has over 200 miles of trails, 31 lakes and reservoirs, camping grounds, beaches, and an abundance of wildlife.

Responsibilities Include:

Water Safety

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of campers and staff during swimming and water-related activities.

  • Monitor swimming areas to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies promptly.

  • Perform rescues and administer First Aid/CPR as needed.

  • Enforce water safety rules and educate campers on safe swimming practices.

    Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the waterfront area, including docks, boats, and equipment.

  • Inspect swimming areas and equipment regularly to ensure safety and report any maintenance needs.

    Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the camp team to coordinate swimming schedules and activities.

  • Assist in planning and leading water-based games and activities that promote fun and skill-building.

  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall camp environment.

    Camper Engagement

  • Act as a role model by demonstrating enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude.

  • Encourage campers to participate in water activities and support their confidence in the water.

    Qualifications:

  • Desire to work and live outdoors from June 13th to August 8th, 2025.

  • Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA).

  • CPR and First Aid certification (Waterfront Lifeguarding Certification preferred).

  • Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.

  • Ability to stay alert and focused for extended periods while monitoring water activities.

  • Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and be up to date on all required immunizations.

    Health and Safety:

    All staff must provide documented proof of their MMR immunizations (two doses) with the month, day, and year.
