Job Description
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

Under the direction of the Director of Forensic Photography, provides oversight for Photography Unit administrative activities to ensure operational success. Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Manages schedule and timekeeping
Assists in training less experienced photographers
Assists with developing and maintaining protocols
Assists in peer reviews of case work
Assists in the hiring process
In the absence of the Director of Photography may perform the duties of that position
Takes autopsy, evidence, crime scene, disaster exercise, and other photos
When undertaking field assignments in any borough office, monitors compliance with citywide forensic imaging procedures and assures that the necessities for proper, continued photographic operations are maintained.
Assists in maintaining a high level of photographic quality throughout the agency.
Assists other OCME staff in photographic projects.
Operates a motor vehicle
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Four years of full-time satisfactory experience acquired within the last twelve years as a photographer; or
Three years of such experience as described in "l" above plus two years of training in a approved photography program; or
Education and/or experience equivalent to "l" or "2" above. Each
year of approved training will be considered equivalent to six months of experience. However, all candidates must have at least three years experience as a photographer.
