RiseBoro Homecare Inc. Activity Specialist, Master Lease Program in NEW YORK, New York

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Master Lease Program Director, the Activity Specialist, the Activity Specialist will coordinate and facilitate activities for tenants at RiseBoro’s Master Lease program, focusing on recreational activities that build community and reduce social isolation. The Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development, and execution of quality program activities i.e. art therapy, exercise classes, dance sessions, arts & crafts groups, or health and nutrition classes

  • Coordinate and facilitate events and activities based on client interest and in specialty areas such as art showcases /exhibits, dance events, meal preparation workshops, game days, movie nights, etc.

  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with clients in the program, families, and other program staff.

  • Create and manage the annual calendar of events and activities for clients in the program

  • Engage seniors in activities to develop healthy self-esteem, express creativity and enhance physical fitness/healthy eating interests

  • Provide support through encouragement and deliver necessary program resources

  • Other related duties as assigned by the Program Director

    COMPETENCIES

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaker required

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer/client service-related skills

  • Ability to provide quality care with compassion, patience, and empathy

  • Ability to show genuine interest in helping older adults and the willingness to provide support as needed

  • A self-starter with a positive enthusiastic attitude and the ability to be creative

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to be detail-oriented and multitask as needed

  • Ability to be organized, dependable, reliable, and efficient in running group activities

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities that have experienced systemic oppression i.e. peopleofcolor, LGBTQ+people,immigrants,justice-involvedpersons, etc.

    EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalency required

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with seniors in a group setting and leading activities
