NJ Employer Nursery Worker in Holtsville, New York
Anticipated period of employment: 01/15/2025 to 08/15/2025
This job requires a minimum of 3 months of verifiable prior experience working in a nursery handling both manual and machine tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Knowledge of fertilization and watering of plants is necessary. Workers must be able to perform manual as well as mechanized activities with accuracy and efficiency. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs.
CROPS/COMMODITIES: NURSERY STOCK. THIS JOB REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 3 MONTHS OF VERIFIABLE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING ON A NURSERY HANDLING BOTH MANUAL AND MACHINE TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH COMMODITY PRODUCTION AND HARVEST ACTIVITIES. KNOWLEDGE OF FERTILIZATION AND WATERING OF PLANTS IS NECESSARY. WORKERS MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM MANUAL AS WELL AS MECHANIZED ACTIVITIES WITH ACCURACY AND EFFICIENCY. WORKERS WILL WATER ANNUALS AND PERENNIALS PLANT AND FERTILIZE ALL PLANT MATERIAL. WORKERS MUST BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY LACK OF NUTRITION AND TYPES OF FERTILIZATION EACH VARIETY OF PLANT REQUIRES. WORKERS WILL SPACE PLANTS ACCORDING TO VARIETY AND HANGING OF BASKET MATERIAL. WILL UNCOVER AND/OR RECOVER WINTER STORAGE HOUSES. LOADS/UNLOADS TRUCKS AND WAGONS OF ALL PLANT MATERIAL GROWN ON THE FARM. WILL OPERATE TRACTORS AND OTHER MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT UNDER SUPERVISION. See ETA 790/790A for a complete job description
