Laundry Aide

SUMMARY

This position is responsible to perform the duties necessary to ensure that the building’s linens and resident’s personal laundry is processed in a clean, safe, and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to work cooperatively as a team

  • Keeps confidential all patient/employee information received

  • Processes linens in accordance to building policy

  • Processes resident’s personal laundry in accordance to building policy

  • Delivers the appropriate amount of clean linens to the nursing units according to schedule

  • Collects soiled linens and resident’s personal laundry from the nursing units on a daily scheduled basis

  • Delivers clean resident’s personal laundry on a daily basis ensuring that items are neat, wrinkle free, and in the correct resident’s closet

  • Maintains laundry rooms in clean, organized condition

  • Performs daily cleaning in the laundry rooms including sweeping, wet mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces to ensure a clean and sanitary work area

  • Reports any malfunctioning equipment as soon as identified

  • Reports any maintenance concerns identified

  • Uses supplies as directed and in the appropriate quantity

  • Adheres to the facility policies and procedures

  • Other duties as determined by the Environmental Services Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school student/graduate or have GED preferred

  • Some experience working in a commercial laundry environment preferred, but on the job training will be provided

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read and interpret policy and procedure documents; the ability to speak effectively to residents, visitors, and co-workers; and the ability to convey ideas and instructions in an effective and professional manner.

REASONING ABILITY

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally or in writing; the ability to think constructively to solve problems; and the ability to anticipate the facility and resident’s needs, change goals and direction quickly, and multitask.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear, and use hands and arms to handle items, lift, feel, and reach. The employee is frequently required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb and balance on a step ladder or ladder. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme changes in air temperature and humidity. The employee is frequently exposed to infectious materials and odors.
