Duties Description Will be stationed at Caroga Lake Campground or Moffitt Beach Campground.Patrol assigned areas and inform patrons about facility rules and regulations. Required to enforce rules and regulations defined in the Park Ranger Manual, using common sense, restraint and authority. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.Inspect Department facilities and equipment and report any hazards or deficient conditions; when necessary encourage appropriate behavior and proper use of facilities; when necessary contact law enforcement for assistance to control or stop illegal, destructive, or unsafe activities;Prepare reports and maintain records to daily activities, public use, maintenance needs and law enforcement.Keep supervisors informed of activities in facility and assist law enforcement at the scenes of emergencies and other incidents.Must be willing to work all weekends and holidays during period of employment. Shift work will be required with fluctuating hours, and possibly, staggered days off.Must be well groomed, wear appropriate issued uniform at all times and maintain uniform in a clean, neat condition. The use of a work type shoe is required. Sneakers are unauthorized.Must attend Park Ranger Training sessions, as required by the Regional Officer.Required to be available to greet campers, operate computer in registering campers and be responsible for camping permits and revenue accounting while working in this capacity. Provide the public with information, literature and answer questions about the facility and surroundings.Must be able to speak clearly and communicate with others.

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: possess and maintain a motor vehicle operator’s license AND have completed either a one year course at a ranger school, or similar learning institution, in a park or natural resource management, law enforcement or similar curriculum; OR have one season of recreational facility experience involving contact with the public or in the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations; OR oneyear of working or interacting with the public in a recreational facility; OR one year of environmental experience in a remote wilderness setting; OR have six months experience in law enforcement, security services employment, military service or similar experience actively involved with public contact or in the enforcement of laws, policies, and rules and regulations; OR have completed at least 15college credit hours in criminal justice or a related field.

Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 10/22/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview. Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.
