Uniland Development Company Laundry Attendant in Buffalo, New York

This role requires weekend, holiday, morning availability. Flexibility with scheduling is essential to meet the needs of our hotel operations.

Job Summary

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for maintaining a constant supply of clean linens for the hotel. The laundry attendant must also clean laundry machinery and laundry room each day, assist in laundry inventories, report mechanical problems or maintenance deficiencies, and respond to guest requests as needed.

Essential Functions:

% Time Spent

  • Perform all stages of linen processing accurately and timely including:

  • Sorting and weighing soiled and unsoiled linen.

  • Loading and unloading washers and dryers.

  • Folding and storing linen.

  • Folding and store valet and laundry bags.

  • Assisting delivering linen to housekeepers on their designated floor.

  • Maintain a clean laundry area at all times including:

  • Cleaning washers and dryers thoroughly each day.

  • Wiping down all countertops, workspaces, and sinks.

  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming as needed.

  • Putting away all laundry supplies in appropriate locations.

  • Emptying trash and bringing to appropriate location.

  • Assist in laundry inventories including:

  • Logging quantities of laundry items such as towels, sheets, pillowcases, bedspreads, laundry detergents and chemicals and reporting to the Executive Housekeeper.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to guest inquiries such as requests for extra linens or general hotel inquiries.

  • Report mechanical problems, maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.

  • Follow Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and report any defective, damaged or lost PPE including equipment that does not fit properly to management.

  • Follow all safety procedures and be able to recognize and act in emergency situations.

  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

  • Maintain a hospitable service atmosphere at all times.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Degree or equivalent preferred.

  • 6 months of laundry, housekeeping, or janitorial work experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to arrive to work on time when scheduled.

  • Ability to operate automatic washer and dryer equipment.

  • Ability to learn, follow and enforce standards for cleanliness as they apply to the laundry area.

  • Physically able to move and/or lift large, heavy objects such as: linen, linen carts and/or bags of linen.

  • Physically able to operate cleaning equipment such as brooms and spray bottles.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guest and teams members verbally or in written form.

  • Organization and time management, ability to consistently manage workload as assigned.

  • Ability to operate in a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day business setting.
